Our Focus Areas

  • People serving food in a community kitchen, with a woman in a beanie ladling soup from a large pot. There are other individuals waiting, and a banner with the words 'Siyanda Hadebe Foundation' in the background.

    Food Security

We address hunger by improving access to nutritious food within underprivileged communities. Through food parcels, feeding initiatives and community support, we aim to restore dignity and ensure that no individual is forced to choose between survival and hope.

  • Group of girls standing outdoors, holding sanitary pads, in front of a banner for the Siyanda Hadebe Foundation.

    Health Awareness

We promote health awareness through education and community outreach, focusing on preventative care, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health. Through initiatives such as our Keep A Girl In School project, we provide sanitary pads to support dignity and uninterrupted access to education.

  • A school assembly in a large auditorium with students seated facing a stage, where a group is giving a presentation. The auditorium has wooden panel walls, large windows, and flags on either side of the stage.

    Gender-based Violence

We work to combat gender based violence by creating safe spaces, raising awareness, and supporting survivors through advocacy and community education. Our approach centres on prevention, accountability and healing.

  • A classroom showing a teacher or instructor standing and raising their hand in front of a group of students seated at desks, with blue curtains on windows and an educational display on the wall.

    Education

We support education as a tool for long term social change. Through tutoring, mentorship and skills development, we aim to improve academic outcomes and expand opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

  • Kids and adults running and playing in a park under a large leafy tree on a sunny day.

    Sports & Recreation

We use sports and recreation as an intervention against substance abuse, crime and violence. These activities serve as preventative measures that keep young people engaged, disciplined and focused, reducing the risk of falling into cycles of antisocial behaviour, drug abuse and crime.

  • Rationale

Our approach is grounded in the belief that education is the foundation of long term personal and community transformation. In underprivileged communities, challenges such as food insecurity, exposure to violence, poor health, lack of basic resources and limited positive recreational opportunities directly affect a learner’s ability to attend school, concentrate, and believe in their own potential. Hunger diminishes focus and attendance, gender based violence erodes self worth and safety, the lack of sanitary products forces learners to miss school, and exposure to crime and substance abuse diverts young people away from learning. Through our integrated focus areas, we work to remove these barriers by providing holistic support that allows children and youth to remain in school, stay engaged, and pursue their education with dignity, confidence and hope, knowing that they are supported and not alone.
